Why
give anything to Community Living?
Community Living has to depend on outright contributions to cover
the wide gap between realistic resident needs and funding sources.
These contributions include gifts of:
- financial
support
- time
- skills
- and in-kind
items.
That’s
why the agency conducts fundraising activities (i.e. the Snowflake
Campaign for holiday gifts, Frederick’s Oktoberfest for a
new wheelchair-use van) and asks for volunteers and donations throughout
the year.
Financial
Contributions
Gifts of cash, no matter how little or large, are always welcomed,
and we put them to immediate and good use. Please contact the Executive
Director’s office, 301-663-8811, e-mail info@communitylivinginc.org,
or use the form below to give a gift that we promise will do much
good!
Gifts
of time and expertise
We welcome your gifts of time and skills expertise at Community
Living. Please see the Volunteers
section for information on our volunteer needs. Below is a list
of areas of need for which we need gifts of expertise and/or labor:
- One-on-one
buddies
- Gardeners
- Woodworking
with seniors
- Spruce-up
teams, both indoor and outside
- Ceramics
class assistant
- Wheelchair
pushers
In-kind
contributions
Can’t
you imagine what it takes to completely furnish and run 28 households
in which more than 90 people reside? Then you can also imagine that
gifts of household goods, groceries, personal items, furnishings,
recreational equipment, garden equipment, pet supplies, WHATEVER
are welcomed. We accept new and gently-used items, and will pick
up, if necessary.
See Community
Living In-kind Gift Needs for a list of specifics needed at this
time.
Most in-kind
gifts are tax-deductible contributions, and we acknowledge all donors
in our annual Report to Donors.
Contact (Ms.)
Marty Young, 301-663-8811, or martyy@communitylivinginc.org, when
you have in-kind gifts you feel would be appropriate for this agency
to use.
Special Gifts
We believe
the most important reason for considering a gift to Community Living
is your desire to support our residents in their efforts to live
fulfilling lives right here in their own community. Other reasons
might include:
- establishing
memorials
- supporting
new or enhanced programs
- extending
the reach of the agency’s success to others with disabilities
in the area
- providing
special equipment or training for persons who can’t afford
these goals themselves.
Donor-advised
funds are welcome. Community Living is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3).
Chartered in 1979, the agency is Frederick County, Maryland's largest
provider of neighborhood homes for persons with developmental disabilities.
All gifts to Community Living are tax-deductible to the fullest
extent allowed by law, and all donors are appropriately acknowledged
in the agency’s annual Report to Donors.
Community Living
staff and volunteer financial experts are ready to assist you with
information and planning needs. The agency can also assist donors
in finding attorneys, accountants, financial planners and other
donors to advise them in the gift or planning process, if desired.
Gifts of real
estate, tangible personal property, and appreciated stock are encouraged,
providing that appraisals and transfer procedures comply with all
applicable laws and regulations.
For questions
or more information, please contact Susan Holton, Executive Director
of Community Living, at 301-663-8811.
